Well, I am moving to Texas in a few months, alone and I'm a little nervous... I don't know what to expect. Is Austin cyclist friendly? How's the weather? Decent areas to live? Do you know anyone looking for a roommate? I have a lot of questions

I have never been to Austin, so I don't know the answers to your questions. I think Austin is supposed to be the "coolest" town in Texas, so hopefully it will be cyclist and vegetarian friendly.

I recently moved to Austin -it's great! It's very friendly, in general.

Cyclist friendly - yes. There are bike lanes everywhere, bike shops everywhere, cyclists everywhere. Drivers are still jerks, though.

The weather is really pleasant from about October/November - March/April. But it gets very hot for most of the other months. It's not nearly as humid as most people make it out to be.

I might know of someone needing a roommate, but it depends on how soon you're moving. As stated in another thread, "If you're south of Ben White, north of Research, West of Mopac, or east of Ed Bluestein you're not in Austin."

I live in Houston, Texas and all I see is a bunch of fast food restaurants like McDonald, Burger King, and etc. The weather here is pretty hot, especially during Summers.
