Just got back from the Oregon coast for Spring Break, Newport to be exact. I stayed at the Best Western Agate Beach. I recommend this place for vegetarians. The hotel restaurant is the Starfish Grill. They have several vegetarian dishes on the menu, plus several others that indicate "vegetarian option" meaning they will prepare it vegetarian. I found it very vegetarian friendly and the food was great. The other restaurants in the area are not so aware, seafood being the main attraction, of course. But I'm happy to say that this place is enlightened enough to make the stay worthwhile. For example, this morning the breakfast special was a vegetarian scramble with hash brown potatoes and toast for $4! And it was yummy!! Just the thing to prepare you for a day of whale watching or kite flying.

Good to know! I haven't been to Newport in forever.

Did you write the book of love, and do you have faith in God above,
If the Bible tells you so? Do you believe in rock Ân roll,
Can music save your mortal soul, And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Online shows $133 a night. Ouch. I'll be near there on my vacation so it's good to know there is a friendly restaurant. I'll add it as a waypoint. Thanks!

Did you see any whales?

You don't have to stay there to eat at the restaurant, and it is a bit less expensive in the offseason.

We saw one whale, a humpback I think. The weather was sunny, but very choppy conditions, making it hard to see them.

Hopefully they will be splashing around while I am there. That would be the highlight of my trip if I could only see one in the wild.

Cheers
