I moved your thread to the CA forum. I'm pretty sure we're having it again this year, although it may not become a reality for another four weeks or so, as long as we're given enough time to get our gifts in the mail to our matches, and have them delivered by Xmas.

Coming soon. We're not even past Halloween yet.

Jen, some people just can't wait until Christmas. These are probably the same people who keep their Christmas decorations up until Groundhog Day.

I'm just sayin'.

I was jelous last year because I was too new to take part... there was a rule that posters had to be around for a 3-month minimum or something, and I had only been posting for a month or so...

I'm excited to take part this year!!

I'm very excited.

Oh, and I'm totally one of those "can't wait until Christmas" people. I started my shopping a month ago.

I don't quite have half done yet, but maybe 40%? I'm planning to do a lot more this weekend!

I LOVE shopping in advance, it's so much more fun than doing it at the last minute when everyone else is trying to do it too.

I usually do my shopping in advance too. As soon as fall hits I start picking up gifts when I see things I think people will like. This year I'd like to get as much as possible done in the next 2 wks because my parents are visiting on the 15th and they could bring them downstate with them and that's just less stuff I have to pack my car with when I go to visit for Christmas!! (This year I have 3 cats to pack up and they take up the entire back seat!!)

I agree, I get to prolong the joy of shopping for people.

40% is really good considering it isn't even November (well tomorrow it will be but you know what I mean).

I also have been taking some of each check when I get paid and going shopping. I like doing this rather then the last minute, put everything on your credit card and then drown in debt until March of the following year.

Who is actually in charge of the Secret Santa?

Does someone take names up to a certain date, then mix them up and PM people the name of who they're buying for?

If you need someone to do that, I don't mind. I'll start an excel sheet and a sign up thread, and we can choose a cut-off date... and rules re: price, etc.

Also, what was the dollar amount last year? Can people opt out of say -- overseas postage? Sending a parcel from Canada to New Zealand or visaversa may double the cost of the gift! That part doesn't bother me much, but it's something to consider... an option for "within country postage, please". ((Maybe?))

Anyways, not sure if I'm butting in here... if you guys have a regular routine that seems to be working... just ignore me!! I'm an organizational FREAK and LOVE to plan things :P

The same person has done it for years now, not sure if someone else did it before them or what, as this year will only be my third year! just do a search for 'secret santa', and some of the old threads will come up, and you can read how it works.

I've done it the past couple of years, and had planned to do so again, unless there's an objection. I'll post a thread in the next couple of days, for now it's late and time for bed.

No objection. I think you've always done an excellent job - definitely needs to be one of VB's "senior members"... (not senior like "old" but like... experienced, you know..)
