Gogogo!

I'm a new vegan, used to be vegetarian

And I shuttered at the thought of not being able to have salad dressing

Are there any good ones out there?

Time to go shopping. :P

I really like raspberry vinaigrettes, I love a simple salad with leafy greens, dried cranberries, and sliced almonds with that... Mmm.

Savory salad dressings, I like Balsamic and Italian... You have to check the ingredients for Italian, sometimes its vegan, sometimes it contains anything from eggs to anchovies.

If you're a ranch fiend, you won't have any trouble finding a recipe for a vegan version.

There are so many great dressing recipes all over the web though, you just have to look. Try vegweb.

For me, it's Nasoya Thousand Island, all the way...only I have a hard time finding it. None of my stores carry it and now when I checked online, they don't seem to have it there anymore, either. I'm going to have a blue Christmas without it!

I didn't know Annie's made vegan dressings!! I just passed up a bunch when I was at Mrs. Green's yesterday...and now I am saladless until I can get back there to see what, if any, vegan Annie's are there!

My favourite is the Creamy Fiesta Dressing from Sarah Kramer's La Dolce Vegan. It has Vegenaise, a bit of sugar, red wine vinegar, basil, and a buttload of other spices. It's so addicting.

Annies is a good choice, and any dressing from the postpunkkitchen.com is fabulous, as well as from her recipe books. my fave is the maple mustard dressing:

3 tbs maple syrup

2 tbs apple cider vinegar

2 tbs whole grain mustard

3 tbs grapeseed or nut oil

1/2 tps mustard powder

salt and freshly ground pepper

wisk all the ingredients together and store in airtight container. keep it refridgerated

The Follow Your Heart creamy garlic dressing is amazing. Anything from them is great but not all of them are vegan so watch out. Any vinaigrettes are really good and usually vegan.

My favorite dressing by far is Asian Miracle Dressing from the Vegan Lunch Box. Even my salad hating husband will eat it. It's very easy to make and great on a mixed green salad with sunflower seeds and tart apple slices.

creamy garlic dressing is my weakness...

A little part of me died the day Kraft stopped making creamy garlic dressing

I used to love raspberry vinaigrette on my salad with walnuts and craisins- then I got sick once after eating it and I haven't been able to eat it since...lame!

Italian dressing is my favorite. Many italian dressings are vegan, always double check though.

I use blueberry vinaigrette!

the brand is norumbega blue. They sell it at my supermarket, this is the only online place I could find to order it. There are lots of recipes online too.

I agree...next to Goddess dressing or the "Honey" Mustard Vinaigrette from ED&BV Newman's Balsamic Vinaigrette is tops.

I absolutely love love LOVE Drew's All Natural Roasted Garlic and Peppercorn Dressing. It's kind of hard to find around here - I have to make a little 30 minute drive to get it, but it's worth it!!

Hi Cherrylux! I recently discovered a recipe for the absolute best vegan caesar dressing EVER! It totally beats out all those caesar recipes that use tofu. AND, it's all raw!

I got the recipe from "Eat, Drink and be Vegan", a cookbook I just got for Christmas. I've already made the caesar dressing 4 times!

You can find the recipe here. I use a regular blender and it works out fine (you don't need an immersion blender). Also, I strongly recommend starting with only 2 Tbsp lemon juice and add more if desired.

I usually double the recipe and it's STILL gone within 2 days!

Salt and Pepper, that is all....

I totally agree! I make this dressing often and it makes a great dip, too!

Everyone loves it, vegan or not.

This dressing sounds amazing. Do you think you could attempt to quantify the ingredients with a bit more detail?

Thanks

Ooh I can't wait to try out that caesar dressing. I forgot how much I missed it. I usually just make my own vinaigrette, olive oil, garlic, rice wine vinegar, salt and pepper and herbs du Provence. Sometimes I will put in a little maple and dijon mustard or lemon in place of the vinegar. I don't like most store bought dressings but I do like the Annie's shiitake vinaigrette and I like the goddess dressing on carrot and raisin salad.

I have been brainstorming a vegan caesar with a sunflower seed base and umeboshi plum vinegar but I need to test kitchen it.
