Lemmings do not commit suicide

I always knew this was just another stupid myth, but I didn't realise that the Disney film empire actually killed lots of lemmings in a wildlife show to "prove" this was true.

The footage of this is on You tube but I'm not linking to that as the scenes are distressing...yet another appalling example of man's inhumanity to animals.

You mean... video games lied to me?!

In Chicken Little, lemmings jump off of a park bench and when they land, they get back in line to jump again

I couldn't find a youtube video of it, but it's Disney

edit: I guess I'm not POSITIVE that it's Chicken Little, but I"m pretty sure...

Yeah, a friend of mine told me this a while back. Hey Disney's manipulative...surprise, surprise.

My brother constantly calls people lemmings, so hopefully I won't have to hear that anymore. Disney had a much better reputation than they do today, but I'm still not surprised they'd promote something like this.

This was actually a Disney wildlife film from 1958, so I'm not blaming their current organisation for this.

Watching the actual film, it is fairly obvious these poor creatures are being pushed to their death but I guess back then, people were a lot more gullible, and assumed the narrator was telling the truth.

It reminds me of the African tribeswomen who carry out body modifications on their faces, which were originally explained by early filmmakers as something they did to avoid being sold as slaves - which was complete rubbish.

They still explode, right?

After careful checking on a SNES, I have to say that the willingness to off a few lemmings greatly increases survival for the rest.
