Grrr... How many stories of a dog hanging itself do people need to hear before they learn that you can't teether a dog by a fence.

Wait - was this a stupid accident, or did someone other than the owner try and kill the dogs?

Lynnwood police said it's too soon to know if the cases are connected but that possibility is under investigation.

A total reward of $5,000 has been offered for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the June 28 case.

It wasn't the owners fault.

In this case, somebody deliberately hung the owner's pit bulls. This is not a case of chaining a dog and the dog inadvertently hanging himself.

As a young kid, one of my dogs hung himself because of being on a chain. Chaining a dog is something that should be avoided because dogs can and often do break chains.

i had a customer a few years ago who returned a tie out after his dog died. he didn't measure properly about how long the tie-out needed to be. his german shepherd jumped the fence and hung himself.

I know someone whose dog died that way. He was in a camper while they were out for a hike and he jumped out the window-- probably because the camper and the surroundings were unfamiliar and he got scared. The family was so devastated. I'm not sure that the dog was actually tied up I think he just had his leash attached and it caught on something.

But yeah, that news story is terrible.

That's a completely seperate case. The article talks about two different cases, the fence accident on July 26th and the dumster dump off on June 28th. Very sad if the fence accident was a deliberate act also. But it's such a common accident for chained dogs that I can't tell from this news brief what really happened.

That is soooo horrible. I have a hard time grasping how people can do such horrible things to any animal ...Stories like these break my heart

My aunts West Highland Terrier puppy died from hanging. My aunt tied a long leash to the dog's collar about two stories up on a deck. The dog fell off the deck and was hung. What a shame...my aunt should have known better.
