Famous or not, who is your favorite artist? Doesn't matter if the person is a writer, photographer, musician, painter, etc. Talk about your favorite artist(s) here.

Caspar David Friedrich is my favourite. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caspar_David_Friedrich

He was a painter in the romantic period. I love his stuff because it's kind of dark and thoughtful. He incorporates religious symbolism into natural landscapes. My favourite painting of his is Monastary (Cloister) Graveyard in the Snow. http://www.artofeurope.com/friedrich/fri10.htm I also really like Tree of Crows. http://www.artofeurope.com/friedrich/fri2.htm

Wow! So many of these artists are brilliant.

The artist I'm really fond of is Franz Marc. His abstractions are gorgeous. Se e for yourselves.

I don't know enough artists to have a favorite, but I just wanted to brag about the artist that painted the picture you see in my avatar. David King, whose website is www.pugcasso.com and who is also an occasional user of VB.

Here's the full image he painted of my dog Starbucks: http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/1...ainting0oi.jpg

(for some reason that scanned image looks more brown than it really is).

I want him to paint my other dogs too, once I get the money.

oh yeah, dk_art or whatever his name is! I didn't know that's who did your avatar - how cool is that.

I really like Seattle artist Ken Bailey

Oh yeah, Sargent is just wonderful.

My favorite artist is my wife. She's a glass artist who does blown, fused and lampworked glass. She also does metal sculpture (often with glass elements), paints murals and is an all around clever gal. Some of her work is on her very outdated website, http://www.glasswork.us .

Of famous artists, I don't have one favorite, but the first one that came to mind is Georgia O'Keefe. Ansel Adams was a close second.

Dear gawd, yes. John Singer Sargent was a god among men. I had the opportunity to see his Portrait of Lady Agnew of Lochnaw in the Edinburgh National Gallery. I could've stared at that thing all day. The silly internet picture doesn't even remotely do it justice.

For contemporary artists, I'm a big fan of Jon Foster who I had the opportunity to meet one time, and Kevin Llewellyn. Just really great stuff.

Try again. It appears that imageshack recently changed the default setting for all my images to "private", so I've reset it to public.

Alternately, you can go to www.imageshack.us/user/HomelessDog and the painting is the last picture on page two.
