How long does Hummus last in the fridge?

I got sent home from a function tonight with a massive bowl of homemade hummus. I live alone. It is seriously a vat. How long does hummus last in the fridge? It was prepared sometime in the past 24 hrs.

(I also was given more homemade guacamole than I'll be able to finish before it goes bad. Such a shame )

The store bought stuff says to eat in 7-10 days.

Did you use lemon juice in it? If you did, that might buy you a few extra days. If not, I would say 3-5 days.

If the storebought is 7-10 days, homemade wouldn't last as long because there's no preservatives. Just eat a lot of hummus and when it starts to taste/smell/look bad, toss it. The guacamole will definitely go bad first though.

you can freeze some of the hummus, though there will be a texture change. The guac I know you can freeze in those vaccume bags but I don't know about freezing it w/o one of those, it can't hurt to try.

I've kept homemade hummus in the fridge for 10 days and longer, but the length of time it'll stay edible depends on how often you open the container, and the ingredients in the product (e.g. amounts of natural "preservatives" like lemon juice and salt, and moisture content).

I'm going to do my best to finish it all. I had some tonight while my dinner is cooking. Not the best hummus I've ever had -- doesn't taste like there's garlic in it, or much lemon juice. I wish it lasted longer cause I'm having a bday party for my bf next weekend where I'm serving "things to dip into other things" and it would save me from having to make/buy hummus (depends on how pressed for time i'm feeling). I'd rather not poison his friend group though, and since it isn't spectacular or anything, I guess I ought to just do my best with it this week and make more this w/e.

I feel like I should have died by now. I've kept homemade hummus almost two weeks and storebought for close to a month

I've had "Sabra / Roasted Garlic Hummus" in the 10oz container 16 days after first breaking the freshness seal, and it tasted / smelt / looked just as good as it did on day one. The "Enjoy Within 7 Days After Opening" seen on a lot of hummus labeling is deliberately placed there for the sole purpose of driving sales by misleading the consumer regarding the shelf life of the product. It has nothing to do with informing consumers that around the 8th day mark your hummus will become rancid or inedible, it is simply a vague description referring to the time when oxidation may begin to occur. This oxidation does not negatively affect the hummus in any way where the product turns in to something your better off keeping away from your mouth. The oxidation occurring around the 8th day mark is simply when their product may begin to ever so slightly change in color in comparison to the color of the hummus when the freshness seal is first broken, that's it.....so it's still just as good to eat on day 8 as it is on day 1, it just may not be as pretty, but in terms of the edibleness and enjoyable flavor: the 7 days on the label isn't talking about that.
