Freezing Rice and Lentils

Can cooked rice and lentils be frozen? I just inadvertently made WAY too much.
I've not tried freezing lentils, but I freeze cooked rice all the time. The first time I did I was amazed at how well it worked.

I would think lentils would work well too. Beans do ... With the lentils I would just make sure they're in some broth or water.

The rice and lentils are actually mixed together (I made some rice with lentils, onions, cumin and salt).

Sounds good! I bet freezing it will work just fine.

They'll be fine. I often cook up big batches of lentils and rice on purpose just so that I can freeze them for later.

Do I need to do anything special or do I just put it in a container or ziplock bag and put it in the freezer? What about when I take it out of the freezer and reheat it?

I do it all the time, cook up a heap load of dahl and rice and freeze it in dinner sized portions. Works well. I've never done anything special either when I freeze or defrost. I usually defrost by taking it out of the freezer and leaving it in the fridge overnight, but the microwave option works fine too.

Do you have to add anything to it when you reheat it? Does it stay moist?

I never freeze anything (even though I should), so I am totally clueless.

I don't, no.
