Bra troubles

What does it mean when a bra digs into your armpits?

Am I buying the wrong style? It digs under my boobs too but that's another matter all together. I just got a new one from lane bryant and it seems to fit right but now I don't know...

~nods~ Victoria's secret is my fav.

I'm a 32/34C (they really need to make 33's lol)I refuse to buy bra's elsewhere... almost every other brand I've tried either pokes, itches, bruises, or makes my boobs look funny... =\\

I am so suffering bra wise too, and I absolutely hate bra shopping worse than anything. And then yesterday my darling husband handed me a white shirt to wash with my undies and (we discovered later) it had a purple paper hat in the top pocket left over from a christmas do and it's tie-dyed my best bra.

I was just thinking about this. I have a horrible time finding bras I like. I can't even figure out what size I wear! When I think I have the size pinned down I find that some of them don't fit, but a smaller one does.

The underwires of some of mine dig into my armpits. They are just longer wires than some.

What I really hate is seeing all of the 36 B (size I used to wear) cute bras and they never have my size, currently much bigger.

Underwires are weird. I have one nice bra where the right hand one digs in. On close inspection I see it's actually longer than the left wire.

The number of times the dam' things have broken free and stabbed me.

My friend's washing machine broke down and it was an escaped underwire that caused it. There were two inside it's sump, she hadn't even missed the first one.

i have ordered one from them (in my size, hot dog!!!) but haven't gotten it yet. will let you know.

they aren't particularly sexy but most bras in my size aren't, sadly.
i went to that website and was wondering about the veracity of their sizes. my ribcage measures 30 inches and my bust measures 36, which would make me a size 30 E? i've been going around wearing a 36C from victoria's secret very comfortably (though with cleavage that stops traffic.) am i just doing something wrong with the measurements?

Amen sister! Big boobies like pretty lacy things too dang it!

I strongly suggest that anyone who hasn't been professionally fitted for a bra do it ASAP. It made a world of difference for me when I started buying the correct size bra.

I've had issues with Lane Bryant bras as well. The digging, for me, was caused by little plastic stays that were on both sides of the bra. Most of the bras that they carry have these, so when I get one there, I immediately perform surgery and remove them. Doesn't affect "performance" at all and makes them so much more comfortable.

Where do you go to be fitted? I'm kind of embarassed if I have to take my shirt off. I wonder if I can do it myself.... *off to google to look up how to*

ETA: Oooooh this is specifically for measuring for a plus size bra!!

VggieGirl~ You don't have to take your shirt off to be measured. Walk into any Victoria's Secret and ask for a fitting. It's quick, simple, and non-invasive.

Oh, and if the band is digging into your armpit, it could be too big. The band should go straight across under your shoulder blades, at about the middle of the back. A too-loose band will ride up, and cause the bra to fail at it's job of over-the-shoulder-boulder-holding.

Some bras just fit funkily, though, so shop around. Even within one store you'll find a range if different fits. Some bras at Victoria's Secret are great for me, some stink. Sometimes I'm a 36D, sometimes a 38C.
