Over time, I notice that dried figs start to get this white ?dust? coating? What is this? Is it just drying out or is it a mold? Will it make you sick? How long do dried figs last once the bag has been opened?
Thanks. I'm rather a freak when it comes to mold - it completely gags me. I'll have to bite the bullet and tongue the stuff. I just hope it's natural sugar...
ok then, what do you people DO with dried figs that they disappear so fast? i ask because, since i HATE wasting food, i dehydrated a bunch of figs someone gave me... but i don't really like eating them either... so what do you do with them?

i just eat them as well. but i love them. if you're not as much a fan of them, i'm sure you could find some recipes..but most things with figs (that i've heard of, at least) use fresh ones. but i just eat them. then again, i have an unhealthy obsession with dried fruit.
