Umm, the Community Assistance forum is meant for issues relating to VB. So I'm moving this to the General Health forum.

I agree. Im not sure herbs are the answer here.

Im glad that this was the reason for the thread though, I thought it may be related to abuse/rape and was suprised people were mocking so quickly.

Ooh! Ooh!

Go to the store and buy some basil leaves or something of the sort. Mix them with some other kind of leaf (edible, of course) and tell him that it's a rare Chinese herb that was used in ancient times to reduce the want of lust.

There is nothing stronger than the placebo effect. Of course, you'd have to understand that you'd be lying to him, but you'd also be lying to him if you tried to actually find some kind of herb that would actually do that, so... pick your poison, I guess.

That passed through my mind too, but I figured that was best left to people who had been through it. I'd say the wrong thing.

It didn't read like abuse to me, but rather two people who were on different pages. Sex drives can vary. Even in the same person, or in the same relationship. It just sounded to me like this couple needed to sit down and chat.
Who needs sleep when we've got love?
Who needs keys when we've got clubs?
Who needs please when we've got guns?
Who needs peace when we've gone above?

Tell him to eat low carb and his drive will go down highly noticeably. I have a feeling it may be completely psychological however.

I find that interesting since the smell of garlic and onions is usually a turn off for most people. Stinky onion/garlic breath tends to not be so attractive.

Exactly.

And I sincerely doubt that there actually is any herb that reduces sex drive in men.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was, known or unknown. Plants have all kinds of weird things in them. I may be surprised if that was all it did though, and I'd certainly be somewhat surprised if it was permanent (and not fatal). I'd be very surprised if it was both.

I don't necessarily seeing it as disturbing. In certain circumstances I can understand why someone with a very high sex drive might want to tone it down a bit. Especially if they are in a relationship with someone who has no sex drive at all or can't have sex for some reason.

Marijuana, despite initially being a libido stimulant, can over time be a libido suppressant in some users. However, the evidence for this is mostly anecdotal at this point in time rather than scientific.

Well agnus castus was traditionally used to insure chastity in monks... It's also called chasteberry, chaste-tree or (the old name) monk's pepper.

In men it can help with excessive sex drive due to high testosterone. (In women it does a whole load of different things but mainly regulating menstrual cycles and related stuff. )

Things to avoid:

Hawthorn, cayenne (actually avoid chilli ), ginger, mint, basil, mace and cinnamon.

The above is just for interest's sake. If you're really serious then the best thing is to speak to a doctor about the concerns, follow their advice, and then, only then, consider using herbal remedies as a supplement to professional treatment.
