I believe the idea is that the younger generations need their own versions of the classics. Odd thing about that is that when I was a kid I learned to love the classics of my grandparents' and parents' days. I didn't need modern versions of things that stand the test of time. Maybe they aren't standing the test of time any more though.

I'm actually surprised they haven't remade Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Then again, there is already a plethora of teen sex comedies out there already. Although none of them (that I can recall ) deal with some of the heavier issues that Ridgemont did.

I wish Hollywood would remake A Christmas Carol. There simply aren't enough remakes of this story already. We need at least 12 more remakes of that one.

Anyone ever seen The Killer Shrews? That's my kind of special effects. The giant killer shrews were just dogs dressed up as big rats... all shaggy with strap on tails and stuff.

I agree, but I also think that most of the greatest ideas for film have already been taken so there's not much completely new material to draw from, and perhaps the best we can do now is to recycle old concepts in a new way. Films like The Matrix are the exception, but I personally think that pretty much everything that can be done on film has already been done at this point, and all that remains is a variation on theme.

The one I was under the desk in was Waiting for the Light.

I also had a small roll in this cheesy Chinese historical drama where I was a German soldier raiding Yuan Ming Yuan during the boxer rebellion and I had to run after Chinese girls wearing boots like 3 sizes too small. I've had all sorts of high quality rolls lol. I'll try to dig up my 1800's German soldier photo...
