Volunteers Urgently Needed at Farm Sanctuary’s Northern
California Shelter.

An estimated 50,000 hens used for egg production at a central California farm were left without food for more than two weeks. Farm Sanctuary’s Emergency Rescue Team has been on the scene and was able to rescue hundreds of these birds, who were brought to safety at our shelter in Orland, CA. We urgently need volunteer help to provide the life-saving care these hens need.

To ensure the proper care for the hens, we require that volunteers commit to a minimum of one week’s work. Experience with chickens is a plus, though all volunteers will be trained upon arrival. On-site, shared housing can be provided; unfortunately we are not able to accommodate companion animals. We are located approximately a 2-hour drive north of the Sacramento airport and 45 minutes west of the Chico airport.

If you are available to help at this critical time, please send an e-mail with your name, contact information, dates available, prior animal and volunteer experience, and any other relevant information to education@farmsanctuary.org, and we will be in touch to schedule a short interview. If you can't volunteer, you can still be a part of this critical rescue operation and help save lives by donating to Farm Sanctuary's Emergency Rescue Fund.

All volunteer help during this time is greatly appreciated!
