We use the devices on animals...last month a pitbull got a new hip transplant we're trying (yes his hip was already damaged) ect.

What on Earth does that mean? Which people "stashing animals in a house" are you comparing them to?

Your comment about stashing was in reference to activists?

And you don't think they can have previously agreed upon homes for the released animals?

Believing the propaganda of 'vivisection saves lives' is as bad as having your compassion manipulated to throw a bomb at an animal lab.

that still doesn't answer what is done there specifically.
i've formed my opinion on your work based on the information you gave and it's not favorable

Its a good thing I don't need your approval to add to my vegan pedestal then isn't it? If you have more specific questions I'll answer them gladly but dont belittle me for doing work that could one day save the life of you or a loved one.

not without knowing the number of animals we have, and without the budget we have there is no way they can provide the level of care we do.

You don't think they can find that out? Or are the activities there so shady that it's carefully protected information?

And do activists always release all the animals inside a facility?

What do you think happens to chickens rescued in open rescues? Are they also "stashed in a house somewhere"?

Yes, a research facility is the best place to give individual care to animals and meet their social and psychological needs...

Kingfarvito, I want you to hear me now, to hear me clearly.

I don't want you to do that work that could save me one day. You don't need to do that stuff on my behalf. Be so kind as to allow me to opt out.

Yours,
SS

Be so kind as to cancel your health insurance plan, sign a DNR, and stop taking any over the counter medication....that should pretty much opt you out.

So me stopping any use of meds will make you stop exploiting animals? Cool, didn't know that.

You were using the alleged benefits of your actions to people who criticize you, in order to undermine that criticism. I'm just saying that I don't want you to do those actions.

in your original post about this you said you thought "we" would want to know what exactly "you researchers" do. explaining it might help with that rather than being evasive. you've said you use things and 1 dog got a hip replecement. if you really want us to know what happens at some of these labs (at least at the one where you work) how about giving a variety of cases rather than a non descriptive answer and a single example.
where did the dog you mentioned come from and how was he injured? do you give the animals experimental medications? what happens to the animals after the experiments are over? where do the animals come from? are they all sick/injured and you're testing experimental drugs/procedures or do you use healthy animals to see if they suffer or die?

Most of the products we test are used in both human and animal shelters, some of the animals are healthy at the start others are injured, all are gotten from a shelter that would have killed them otherwise. We test devices (such as the hip replacement) to make sure they function well before they're released for use in humans and other animals. Unfortunately current laws mandate that the animals be euthanized after we're done with them, this is not the way we want things and there is an active group of researchers working to rectify this. All injured animals come from various shelters. Don't chastise me for making the best of a bad situation.

'the best' for who?

i volunteer for a charity that also takes animals from high kill shelters. we don't operate needlessly on them and then kill them though, we find them new homes.

but it's no problem since you don't need my approval anyway; my opinion shouldn't matter to you. how about you stop getting upset because i'm not blindly agreeing with your idea that your work is awesome?

i don't see how saving an animal from death only to experiment on it before killing it anyway is helping that animal.
