I love cows! They're so cute and sweet. I want to have a pet cow but since I live with my parents, they would never allow it and I doubt the city council would either. Sigh...

Awww! That calf is the cutest!

Amazing cow pictures, I only have one to share and I'm afraid their fate wasn't as happy as the previous cows:

This is a repeat of something I posted a few years back, from a farm I pass on my way to work.

I love cows so much. I live in a typical rural area and every time I see cows I get the urge to run up and try to cut the fence bounding them to their slaughterhouse fate.

I learned my beloved Moe died this past Monday. When I interned at FS, Moe was separated from his bovine family a majority of my time there because he had pneumonia. Every day I would go over the the barn he was in and bring him a carrot, pet him, and give him scratches. After he was better and let back into the herd, I still walked out to whatever pasture they were on and gave him his daily carrot. He and I were good friends. I'll miss you Moe. ♥

Hank also died last year. He was an old boy, extremely sweet and kind, and would always give the staff and interns a good freak out because he would go down fairly often. One moment he could be there grazing, the next he'd be on his side and waiting for people to go pull him up. Sometimes he would just be sleeping, so you'd yell and clap and call his name to see if he'll sit up, and if he didn't you'd run over to check on him. When you got near he'd sit up and look at you like, "What? Can't a guy get a relaxing snooze around here?" I think he had a good laugh every time he saw a look of shock on someone's face. I'll miss you too, Hank. ♥

I just learned Harrison's mommy Loretta passed away last fall in the FS magazine thing that gets sent out quarterly.

She was pretty timid normally, but if you offered her food she wouldn't mind you much and would let you pet her. She got spooked easily though, but I don't blame her. She was a really good mom to Harrison and his BFF Cupid (I believe that's him in the background of the picture). Before she was rescued with him, she was used as a breeding cow for over a decade and was sold to at least three different farmers, each branding her side with their insignia. Harrison was the only baby she got to keep. I'll miss her so much, too.

Times like this when I wish I didn't live so far from the shelter. I wanted to go visit so many times last year but life got in the way and I never got to. I have it in my mind that this year I'll be back, but I said the same last year and who knows if that'll happen. I was already vegetarian and then vegan long before I knew about FS and interned there, but a lot of the animals there changed my life. For starters, I never got all up close and personal with a cow before going to FS. I've seen some before, but I never got to know them and see how they each have distinct personalities and attitudes, likes, dislikes, friends, etc. It put a new light on things. I never even knew how a pig's eyes look exactly like a human's. I didn't know that goats will literally eat everything if they wanted to and the whole "eating a tin can" thing really may not be a joke. Knowing them makes the choices I make in life much more personal, e.g. I don't buy leather not only because it's part of a dead animal, but I can look at it and see any one of my bovine friends.

But anyway, I love cows, and I wish everyone got to be friends with one or some.

I interned at the one in CA (the original one in CA that is, in Orland) November 2010, December 2010, and January 2011. It's now been over a year since I was there and I (clearly) miss it and the animals a lot. One of the ladies I interned with in January started working there for most of last year as a tour guide and I think she's interning there again currently. The pictures she posts just adds to my longing to go back.

I love cows, and I especially love seeing them in photos from farm sanctuaries. It reminds me one of the many reasons I choose to be vegan. Lots of love!

The thing is, she never seems to be in any pain from it. She hasn't lost any weight, her appetite is great, she still plays with her friends, is very active. She shows no signs of suffering.

Aww the poor girl.

Where I live there's a public pathway through a field that cows live on, and this morning they were all hanging out on the path eating grass so I thought I'd take some pictures of them on my phone for this thread, but they all ran away from me.

I didn't even try and get close to them, I was giving them a wide berth and everything.

Oh my word, I can't get over how adorable they are! They remind me of frisky pups. Glad to hear the little cancer patient is doing well, and yes, miracles do happen! Looking forward to seeing pics of the babies.

This thread feels as if it was made for me XD lol. Cows have been my favorite animal my entire life (no joke-even my first stuffed animal!) They relax me and help me so often when I lose track of whats important. These animals really just need love and I can"t stand how apathetic society it towards them. I wish I knew how to show you guys my room. I'm rather obsessed(at least i'm accepting of it) Cows everywhere! They are /were my main motivation when I became vegetarian and now vegan.

I was looking through all the pictures I took at FS and, man, I miss those animals. It hurts not being able to see them. Plus there's all sorts of new cows there I haven't had a chance to love yet! (and goats, sheep, chickens [lots of them], pigs, and probably some others...) And little Oliver and Elliot are no longer little anymore. They're big boy steers now. They grow up so fast. *tear*

So to lessen the pain, I'mma share more pictures. :P
