danakscully64 Ooo.. an avocado sandwich sounds really GOOD right now
08-07-2008 08:34 AM
codemonkey I went to a subway in LA that had actual, whole avocados. It was awesome. The avocado at my local subways is pre-mashed in a plastic container. It's still good though.

danakscully64 Only in San Diego, my dear Here in Riverside, we have REAL avocado! The only time I've ever had smashed avocado, it was near Shelter Island in SD. From what I remember, it was real avocado, just premashed for easy use, nothing odd to it.

*AHIMSA* I hesitate to call what they have avocado, actually...It's smashed "avocado product".

At least on the West and East Coasts, in the ones I have been to. Maybe someone else has actual, fresh avocado.

MBlivesinatree Subway has avacado? where? since when? *eyes light up*

codemonkey I find the veggie delight filling enough if it has avocado on it. I've been to subways where they didn't have avocado though. I think next time I go there I'm going to ask them to toast the peppers, onions and tomatoes though. Last time I was there, I saw someone else ask them to do that and I'm amazed that I never thought of it before.

Same here. Theres very little protein to the sandwich and the bread is really light. I always have to eat a granola or protein bar to hold me over.

I remember in my omni days a 6 inch sub was super filling.

MBlivesinatree I've had them, they're actually pretty good, but going on what the other members say, they're not vegan. the only thing is not every subway has them, the one in my town dosen't but other ones nearby do, I really don't mind the veggie delite though, but it does need some hot peppers to spice it up, jalapenos, and maybe some of the banana peppers as well. I like the Quiznos veggie sub better than any of the subway ones though, with the guacamole it's to die for.

prettyvacant apparently the indian lady there told me the sweet onion sauce which I love is the only vegeterian sauce they have there. The vege patty over here is different its got no eggs, but I think some meat eaters make it hard on vegeterians and tell them it contains animal fat, just recap the lady showed me the official list. Potatoe, veges, vege oil, tofu

danakscully64 I admit, I don't feel "full" usually after eating subway, even with a lot of veggies. I feel full like I have enough food in my stomach, but I don't feel satisfied. I'm not a vegan and may try the patty next time, out of curiousity. I'm very happy with my regular sub though... SWEET ONION SAUCE IS THE BEST

dani_cat It's alright. I had a footlong veggie pattie and I got sick of it. I like the veggie delight better.

Their sweet onion sauce is awesome.

But without the patty, it just isn't as filling, and not as much protein. Under normal circumstances, it's enough protein, but I often eat Subway when I work out, so that's when I want extra protein for muscle mass.

Agreed. I know people who have asked to see the box that they came in so they could look at the ingredients. They're not vegan, but they are vegetarian. I believe most Subway stores get the veggie patties from Morningstar Farms.

hellywelly88 I went into Subway earlier to order a veggie patty, the guy serving asked me if I was a vegetarian for ethical reasons or jus because I didn't like the taste, when I asked him why he told me that the 'Veggie' patty contains beef fat to hold all of the ingredients together. not good
06-22-2008 01:58 PM
ChereC I find by asking for a mound of mushrooms on the veggie ones at Quizno's, it really "beefs" it up and give you a substantial sandwich. I haven't done that in years tho...

rvijay Glad I saw this thread. I rarely eat out these days. Go to subway for big emergencies. Now as a Vegan, I will avoid their Veggie Pattie like the plague.
06-22-2008 10:59 AM
danakscully64 I know Plus, you wouldn't be able to taste the salty goodness...
06-22-2008 10:19 AM

danakscully64 Pickle sandwiches are the best EVER (3x the amount is nothing compared to my stack). Pickles and Sweet Onion sauce make the sandwich Had one for lunch...

They always look at me weird because I ask for 3x the amount of pickles they normally put on. In fact, I'd be happy with a sub that was mostly pickles and mustard.
