veganinohio I have also renewed my commitment to this. I drink so few anyway, but I can't seem to avoid drinking a few here or there. I really have trouble with 7-11 Slurpees in the summer. I know they are disgustingly horrible for you, but I'm having trouble giving them up.

Artichoke47 I, too, gave up drinking pop and using articifial sweeteners about three-four weeks ago, and it was really not difficult at all, especially after reading a few posts about Coke and what it does to your body.



I drink mostly water, hot or cold tea every once in a while. I use Florida Crystals to sweeten the tea. Yes, it has calories, but only 16 per teaspoon!

Mskedi Aspartame scares me. And gives me headaches... or at least that's what I narrowed it down to. I very rarely chew gum (basically if I'm on a plane or driving somewhere where the altitude is changing a lot), and I don't think I get it in anything else I eat.



I gave up soda completely for several years, and recently started having about 1/2 a soda once or twice a month for no apparent reason except that it's there when I have dinner with my friends every Sunday. I don't have anything diet or caffeinated, but still... I shouldn't start up again. The last few weeks I've had water, so I'll just stick with that.



I do like sparkling mineral water, though... maybe I can convince my friends to have that with dinner.

sandiemac OMG! i could not do this! give up my diet coke and my splenda? not on your life....if they ever outlaw splenda i'm gonna be holed up in my house like ruby ridge with as many boxes as i can find

GhostUser Other than a small glass of orange juice in the morning, I only drink water. Every once in a while I'll have a juice spritz (juice & seltzer water), but that's it.



I didn't find it difficult to adjust to not drinking sweetened stuff at all.

Are basically having your beverages with no sweetener at all, or are you using natural sugar?



If you are not sweetening at all, did you find it difficult to adjust?



I'm a Splenda junkie. I used to use Equal - and before that sweet & low......so I guess I'm doing a LITTLE better, but I wish I could get off it altogether.

pickletatertot It's been over two weeks. I gave up sodas and all artificial sweetners. I'm pretty proud! I'm drinking water, tea, and seltzer water. I eat healthy and the diet sodas were the one bad thing I was consuming on a daily basis. I didn't want that junk in my body anymore. I gave up cigarettes 6 years ago and I'm pretty happy I have taken this step too.



So, I had to give up my sugarless gum and in the process I learned that lots of regular "sugared" gum has artificial sweetners too. I learned about an ingredient called acesulfame k. This stuff is worse for you than aspartame and isn't even approved by the FDA for food and drink. But they put it in gum! WTF? Also, I learned that most children's vitamins contain aspartame! That is horrible in my opinion! The stuff is everywhere and it's so hard to avoid. But I'm doing by best...and I'm glad I gave it up! Anyone else want to join me?
