i didn't realize it until quite recently, that there was a reason I would get halfway through a banana and think it was the most disgusting thing
now that I know, I don't eat bananas. will eat the bread tho

|Pocky||I love bananas and have one with breakfast every morning, and at least three in my ice cold fruit smoothies. In the summer it usually ends up being 4 a day.|

I usually eat at least one banana a day. For the past two or three months I've had a toasted peanut butter banana sandwich every single morning for breakfast. I usually go on food jags but they rarely last this long. In fact, I had another such sandwich for dinner tonight (hey gimme a break I'm here by myself and tomorrow is grocery day so there's not much to work with).
As for eating a banana by itself? Not so much. I could eat one for a snack (and I do from time to time). But most of my bananas are eaten in the presence of peanut butter.

|Tofu-N-Sprouts||Bleggghhh. I'm definitely in the NO BANANAS camp. Can't stand the texture OR the taste!|

|vheogl||None. I find them repulsive. Used to love them and could easily eat 2-3, but now even the smell of them makes me feel sick.|

Heh. That's what I used to say to my mom when I was little. I think she thought I was a nutcase.

As a pp mentioned....I could eat lots, but I have to give some to the toddler-monster...as she adores them too (and has *finally* mastered the art of eating them without squishing them through her fingers!)...
My organic veg box people always send them very very green though....so I'm having to eat plums at the moment while waiting!

I don't mind bananas in smoothies but I prefer smoothies without them.
Otherwise, I don't eat bananas.

|karenlovessnow||One. But I can eat half a watermelon or a whole cantaloupe....|

|danakscully64||1 by itself (sometimes less) and in a smoothie, 1-2. Any more than that and I start to feel sick. I love bananas though.|

|tearhsong2||I love bananas, but I usually only go for one at a time and usually only one a day. I have to fight my daughter for them--if she had a bigger stomach she would probably eat 2-3 at a sitting. If she sees me eating one I almost always end up sharing it with her.|

|Angelwing||I usually have one, maybe two a day. But for the most part can only handle eating one per sitting, even though I love them.|

|10-05-2007 04:10 PM|
|AspiringDoc||Oh man I could easily eat about 3-4 bananas but I usually just stick to 1. I freeze them and then eat them with soynut butter....it is amazing.|

|Bells||I love bananas and I have one every day, but I do not think I would like to eat more than one.|

I love bananas and could easily eat a couple in one sitting, but I limit myself to one per day because they go fast in our family of four! I usually buy 2 bunches for a week and that lasts maybe half of the week.
Skylark - funny that eating so many bananas as a kid made you sick of them! I grew up in Africa (my parents were missionaries) and we had our own banana trees, and we always had huge bunches of bananas sitting in our garage. My brother and I used to eat heaps of them, and I still LOVE them!
OregonAmy - thanks for the visual. I just KNOW that phlegm thought is going to enter my head the next time I bite into a banana!

|GhostUser||I've eaten approximately 14,000 bananas in the last 20 years.|

I've been known to eat three small regular (Cavanaugh ???) bananas.
We got some great small variety bananas about 4 to 5 inches long and I ate about six of them, but since their so small that's probably less than two regular bananas.
I love bananas and I'm somewhat concerned about the fungal disease that's affecting some banana plantations. It evidently could wipe out the Cavanaugh banana. I've heard a fungal disease wiped out the variety that used to be cultivated for the masses in the previous century. I forget when that happened, but I remember seeing a show about bananas and they were saying it could happen again.

|evelinadatta||Probably a billion... I always say if I was allowed to eat only one food for the rest of my life it will have to be bananas (with olives coming a distant second).|
