If you havnt eaten meat/cheese/eggs for a long time, dont you get sick when you eat some?

Not necessarily. Some people do claim to feel ill if they've accidently eaten meat, and that's how they know they have accidently eaten meat. Others however don't feel any different. I've accidently eaten meat and I've felt fine.

dearest-helples The weirdest things have animals/ animal products in them. When I was still just veg i used to eat veg soup from cans... it has beef broth in it and i didnt know cause I figured... vegatables... but yea.. only after I became vegan and started reading things close did I realise that, it was very shocking and really gross.

Lydia I found out marshmallows have gelatin in them. I'm currently angry at myself for not knowing.

Oh well, live and learn. At least you didn't eat a lot of sausage balls!

Well at least it wasn't beef tortellini! They have that you know

GhostUser I'm sorry!

Can't change it now, though.

Just a lesson learned..ask next time.

GhostUser I'm sorry that happened to you! I guess it's best to ask next time.

Lucine I was at a Christmas party last Saturday and among the array of goodies they had, I spotted a plate of nice-looking "cheese" balls! They had toothpicks stuck in them so, stupidly, I decided to try one (or two), since I was trying everything that looked good... I have been vegetarian for a long time so I know how to spot meat when I taste it, and those cheese

balls tasted like meat to me! Even though I was afraid I had to make myself go and ask the hostess what they were... she ended up telling me they were "sausage cheese balls"... I was proud of myself for not freaking out but I was still very much disturbed, but thankfully I had only taken 2 small bites of one!!

It was the first time I'd had any kind of meat source in years...

I'll know next time to ask before I put anything in my mouth.
