ChiaVegg Well I always think it has nothing to do with me, so I'm just not reacting or reacting in a funny way. It is mostly about them and their beliefs. They'll stop some point with these jokes, cause once they told their best jokes they won't go on and on with them, cause it gets boring. Also they will get used to it that you are a vegetarian.

Maybe you could also come up with some jokes yourself.

Purp I usually roll my eyes and think, "Thank God for veggieboards. This one's going in STOS."

Aniserose1> I usually do something like rolling my eyes and saying, "Heard that one a thousand times, couldn't you be more original?"

SapphireLightning I am at the point that I just shut them down and make them realize that talking about murdering animals isn't something to joke with me about, akin to me making a rape joke about their dead grandmother. Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe the next time I hear such a joke, I will do something equally as distasteful and use a rape joke about their dead relatives, and if they complain, tell them that what I said was no where near as distasteful as what they had said.

How Do You Handle ThoOosE Jokes?

You know the ones. You're just minding your own business when a friend or family member says something along the lines of:

"I'm a secondhand vegetarian. Cows eat plants. I eat cows."
"Being a vegetarian was a huge missed-steak."
"I love animals...on my plate."

For me, being a bratty teenager when I started out (I'm almost 25 now), I often got incredibly miffed at those jokes. My rage went from long-winded rants to a simple "stfu" or "stop making fun of me!"

Nowadays, I just go with it. For example,
Re: "huge missed-steak"
"Good thing I don't miss steak."**

I mean, what else can you do? You give them what they want if you get riled up. Make them laugh, they think you're cool.

So, what do you guys do when you hear/see the jokes and memes? Discuss! ^_^

**My comebacks are usually funnier than this. Hehe
