eating yeast free doesnt mean anything. high sugar can increase your chances for candida throughout your digestive tract, which can eventually show up in your mouth. do you have other symptoms of anything? like stomach probs? bloat? if the candida is actually throughout your body, diflucan will help. then, follow up w/ probiotics.
otherwise, i think there is a medicated mouthwash that is available to use for some time...but im surprised that your dentist didnt have any idea or suggestions.... did they actually get to see the mucous? thrush will look white all over your mouth/ cheeks and your mouth can feel "hot".
thrush can also indicate a immune prob., so i would definately mention this to a doc, just in case.

why would you want a decongestant for gack in your mouth?
the only reason that'd make sense to me would be if your nose is blocked, so you're breathing through your mouth. that could be the case, especially at night while you're sleeping- which would make you wake up with gack in your mouth, plus maybe a dry feeling to your mouth and/or sore throat on waking, and a headache and a sicky feeling in your stomach a little after you get up (when gravity makes everything thats clogging up your sinuses start draining).
if your dentist thinks its sinus stuff or allergies, maybe thats the case- is your nose blocked or runny during the day? do you breathe through your mouth a lot, or get the urge to swallow and a thick feeling in the back of your throat (maybe worse if you tip your head between your legs, then back up)? do you have bad breath? do you get a dry mouth/feel thirsty a lot? close your mouth and keep it closed for a while- can you still breathe? (if not, open it again, quick! hehehe).
perhaps a visit to the doctor is the next option. diagnosing youself can be a risky option, and you might be way off the mark.

This is all a bit gross, but I get white mucous in my mouth when I have a blocked nose, because I have to breathe through my mouth so my saliva dries out- like hoodedclawjen says. It can be quite annoying.
Oral thrush is quite different, I've had that a lot because of my asthma inhalers. It's quite a lot like a sore throat and the doctor gives lozenges to suck to make it go away.

Ok, this may be vaguely helpful.
A long time ago I was told a story about a mouth infection that spread in the cafeteria because the utensils had not been properly sterilized. Everyone infected was treated with some kind of blue medication.

Hiding in plain sight.

sounds like maybe maybe maybe you might have a bit of residual sinus stuff going on from a relatively recent head cold, or from allergies.
decongestants might help unblock your nose and sinuses if you feel blocked up, but taking them for more than a week straight will make it worse.
you could also think about steam inhalation, sleeping with your head tipped up a bit, and/or menthol bath stuff. if its from allergies, it could be anything, but if you haven't done any dusting or cleaning for a bit, some of that probably wouldn't hurt. i would suggest thinking about using a neti pot too, but you don't know if you have a low grade sinus infection, so that'd not be a good idea.
don't go too mental scrubbing away at your mouth, that'll make it extra sore and sensitive. a nice gentle mouthwash might be a better option.
incidently, i doubt eating chicken would help at all, in any way, or that not eating chicken might have in any way caused this.
if it doesn't go away soon, you really should try and see a doctor. it would cost money, but would perhaps be cheaper and more sensible than spending money on stuff which you don't know is going to help (like probiotics, decongestants, mouthwash, etc)- cos you don't really know what you're treating. there aren't very many doctors on this website, (i'm definately not one) and im pretty sure that none of them could tell you whats wrong with 100% certainty without actually examining you... which is tricky from the other end of a computer.

.
gack is now my new favorite word. must use in sentence....:book:
i agree, that its probably sinus related....seeing that its worse when you bend over.
you should check out a neti pot/ nasal lavage to get that *gack* outta your nose. (heehee) its really a great way to clean out your sinuses and help prevent sickness, relieve pain/ pressure, etc. ... decongestant will help too.
um, and i certainly dont think eating a whole chicken will help your symptoms. sorry.
