I was using a glass jar and a piece of paper to capture ( and release outside) several bugs who were desperately trying to get out through the window pane when I saw this one. I thought it was really cool looking . The colours were all irridescent and shiny.

I find some insects quite interesting. This was about 5mm long (3/16").

Wow that really zooms in (still a bit blurry but it was focssing on the window sill I guess) ... that dust and stuff is really much smaller in real life LOL

looks to be of the wasp or hornet family to me ..but I'm just guessing.

Awesome! I've never seen one of those. Very pretty. You should send it to http://whatsthatbug.com/. That guy should be able to tell you what it is :)

Wow there's a website for everything hehe

I should have set focus to manuel .. it was focussing more on the window sill ...or well

I did go to that site and searched wasps and saw a small pic that didn't show any colour but still did a google image search for that and found out it's probably a "chrysis Ignita" wasp (ruby tail wasp) or something similar

I think irridescent colours on bugs are cool because they change colour a bit defoending on the angle.

Here's another cool pic
