The "Pity Me" thread

I just got reamed by my bank for $180 in overdraft charges. Now, I know it was ultimately my fault, because I was the guy who got the bright idea to float a few checks and try to stretch those holidollars past the point of reason. However, since I got all the charges in one day (9 OD charges of $20 each; some for ATM purchases of less than $5 :furious: ), I still think you should all feel sorry for me.

:dunce:

(BTW, this is an open thread for all self-pitiers. Call it the VB Pity Party, and you're ALL invited  )

call the bank & see if they'll reverse some of the charges b/c you don't do that very often. right? right? maybe it'd help if you went into the bank and started crying about how your wife and dog left you and all you have left of your life is an old pair of cowboy boots your father left you when on his deathbed.

Either that, or you could just go shopping. Ahhh, retail therapy. (but once when I had a bazillion OD charges in one day, I called the bank and they reversed half of them so... it can't hurt, right?)

I'd whine about having to take a redeye last night from hong kong back home to sydney (a 9-hour flight, mind you) then as soon as I got home this morning I had to start working again... but I don't think I'd get much pity. (really, it did suck. Especially since the flight was about 98% full and there was a fussy baby behind me.) And i have a meeting in the city in a couple of hours that I can't postpone because a client's CIO is out here from the US to meet us and is going back tonight. grrr.

I'm cranky.

<<<< overloaded with work & school at the moment and trying to keep the crankiness at bay by going on VB... a stupid temporary fix b/c it only takes away time I should be spending on work & school.

:whack:

*throws the pity around like confetti*

I got sick with some weird thing that mainly is targeting my throat. It hurts, and my voice box sounds like it's decomposing and I can barely whisper, and I think it's probably contageous. So I didn't go to rehearsal, and I'm REALLY bummed because I REALLY wanted to do that performance  And I lost five pounds since Saturday since I can't stand up long enough to cook and I can barely swallow anything anyway. Boo.

Oh, and I felt aweful since I couldn't call up the theatre and explain why I couldn't come, since I can barely make a sound resembling speach. So the people I love most probably hate me right now.

PS Rev...Banks recently changed their processing procedures which make it more difficult to float checks. The new procedures went into effect 10/28.

It's called Check 21 for short.

Sorry to tell you this, but I don't believe if you plead your case to them they'll remove/reverse any of the charges. It doesn't hurt to try though.

I feel for you.
