to go vegan (and my choice to join her) we started a new Thanksgiving tradition. We adopted a turkey from Farm Sanctuary! Every year as we prepare to celebrate the holiday by giving thanks we'll be remembering our feathered friends!

Hoping, all the while, to be able to someday live where I can actually adopt a turkey and give one a home! Right now that would send our home owners association into a tail spin! :D

Excellent. What did you name the turkey? I think I'd name a turkey Chuck, or Betty, if it was a female.

Good for you! It's a great feeling, isn't it?

I adopted a cow from Poplar Spring animal sanctuary. My daughter and I will be having Thanksgiving with the Turkeys next month at Poplar Spring. I know she will love that. She is 17 months old. We will be able to see our cow at the time. I am waiting to see which cow we have adopted. It's great we can pop by and visit if we give them a few days notice. :boobies:

I wish we had a farm animal sanctuary here in Florida!

I wish I had the land and resources to start one! :D

But alas I will have to settle for a road trip! :D

I adopted one from an egg that researchers were about to destroy as it hatched for no ther reason than they "Didn't need it."...and it's in my yard. Actually "Tom-Tom" as it's called, is incredibly benign. Knows his dad, and comes to hang out with me wherever I am in the yard. I have no idea if it's a he or a she though. I understand you gotta be careful not to overfeed them cause they're not designed for longevity-but size. They can rappidly outgrow their bodies ability to support themselves. How to control that though, is beyond me for now. Perhaps more exercise-? T.

my mommy is a vegan, but she's a health vegan not an ethical vegan so talking to her about saving the fuzzies doesn't go very far...

This is actualy more of a sponsorship through Farm Sanctuary.

But someday when I have a house that isn't in a subdivision with stupid property owners' association rules I plan to really truly adopt a turkey and some chickens! I love chickens!
