I wouldn't know. I personally haven't been there to examine it. And I have neglected to ask my Chinese friends to give me the details. Because then they might not want to be my friends after that. People like to let Americans abroad know what they think of our country's government, and I know that I avoid being friendly with those people...

This is not a political statement, nor engrandizement of the west, nor do I hold back at all when firing upon capitalist prisoners of the east, but srsly, [=on the sly] how effed up is it that "effed" is not a country but a statement of sheer frustration at censorship?!

I'm a doc student in a cohort of about a dozen students. 3 of the students are "right off the boat" from China. I talk with them often about China and also about America. I say things like "that's why China is effed up" when they tell me things about China that I think are effed up. Like how they have to have read "Moaist editions" of Marx's major works before entering high school and how the gov't can take any land or property it wants to make hair factories and/or jails. They don't give me the 'ump about it either, they just argue with me about it, sometimes agreeing sometimes not.

There are recipes for maple cake and pumpkin spice homemade baked donuts on Pinterist. Less greasy and definitely vegan. I would not trust any other source unless it specifically says vegan donuts, there are a few shops but mostly in major cities. I think there are two in L.A...all of big huge L.A. that has other donut shops on every third corner.

I just wanted to add here that I finally tried vegan plain cake donuts from Whole Foods yesterday and they were wonderful. I have always liked cake donuts better than glazed though.
