one thing I don't understand is: you say:

Quote:
Shockingly, keepers control the bees by pumping their hives full of smoke, which masks the scent of their alarm pheromones and keeps them from defending their honey stores.
but the link you put says:

Quote:
With the brood box cleaned up, I stoked my smoker with burlap and dried sage and lit it up. I pumped the hive with a healthy dose of smoke, which sends a message to the hive that there is a forest fire. Their natural instinct is to gorge on honey and/or move away from the smoke.

A bee filled with honey is like a generally hyper boss after a gin and tonic – he or she is a little mellower.
I have read the second quote before, and I think that is the correct reason.

I'll be honest: The main reason I don't eat honey is because it's ****ing gross. The idea of eating another creatures vomit makes me want to make some human honey. The cruelty is my second reason.

I like your blog though. Keep at it; stay Vegan strong and all that jazz.

I don't eat honey since I don't believe it is really necessary in real life when you can have agave or maple syrup (which tastes better anyways), but I do think it can be done harmlessly. The video below shows a man harvesting one frame from a brooder with two stacked boxes.

He does it sustainability and he isn't greedy (he seriously took one small frame and got three jars of honey from it). He uses a smoker, but he takes things like pine cones or straw and smokes them with that instead. In the springtime, he is called to houses to get the new colony of bees when they swarm. He puts them in boxes for unselfish reasons such as giving the bees a home, increasing the bee population, or pollination around the area in gardens.

He explains in the video in more detail about what he does but he clearly states that he isn't in it for the honey. Check it out.

He also has a playlist of solely VEGAN recipes! They're also labelled gluten-free and raw too.
