I'd like to preface this post by saying that I am not Vegan but am Vegetarian but after watching this video and hearing how Dr. Joy explained the connection that people make with their food or should I say the *lack* of connection... I thought it was worth sharing here with our wonderful Vegan peeps.

I thought originally that it might be better suited for the Vegetarian forum but I think most vegetarians may not be ready to become Vegans quite yet {I fall into that category} but thought that the Vegans might be interested in her opinion & would love for you all to weigh in with your thoughts.

You will have to scroll down to the bottom for the video & it is an hour long but was very informative.

{Note: If the moderators do indeed think this would be more beneficial in the Vegetarian forum, please by all means feel free to move this thread.yes.gif}

Brilliant stuff! 'Carnism' isn't a belief system though. It is actualy a disbelief system, isn't it?

I thought it was very interesting how she puts into perspective about how alot of us maybe grew up as meat-eaters but at some point in our lives we either hear something, read something or even just see something that gives us that change in perspective.

Or not.

I also liked the question that someone asked her at the end of the video about what her thoughts were on all of the small farms that are beginning to sell their meat products & how alot of people think that is a better option than buying items through other outlets.

I thought it was a really thought provoking video and I think would be an excellent resource for friends/family members who might question our reasons for being vegetarians/vegans.

*IF*...and that would be a BIG IF they would be willing to watch it all the way through with an open mind.

I do know it gave me alot to think about in terms of vegetarian vs. veganism on a personal level.
