She's not a vegan or a vegetarian, but I guess she's had enough of my vegan baked goods to see how delicious they can be!
It just goes to show that even if you're not outright converting people, you can change their minds about vegan food. When I orginally went vegan she was one of the ones who said "you can't even eat bread! at our parties you'll be all by yourself eating carrot sticks!"
Now I just hope that cake is good! I thought it was so nice of her.
I do think that cooking delicious vegan food and giving it out to all and sundry is a good way of making people realise that we eat more than lettuce leaves.

I am not vegan, either, and I almost always request a vegan cake from my cake decorator sister for my birthday.

I am working hard to show the homeless population of my town how good vegetarian food is. So far, they seem to like it pretty darn well.
That's awesome. My (omnivorous) dad baked a birthday cake for my mom last weekend, and he made a "wacky cake" which is naturally vegan. It is a chocolate cake that we grew up with before I even knew what a vegan was, and super easy to make. Instead of making a vegan frosting, he just put a dusting of powdered sugar over the top.
And he bought some So Delicious Coconut Milk mint chip ice cream for those of us who are vegan. My dad rocks!
That's awesome! I bet she'll be thrilled about how much easier it is to make vegan baked goods -- I love not having to worry about the general ickiness that goes along with handling eggs and butter.

Sure! It's called "chocolatey squares" here, but I always use cocoa instead of carob powder and top it off with melted dark chocolate, then let it cool and harden. So yummy! My little host brother in Australia used to make these chocolate bars called "hedgehog slice", and this tastes really similar. I just googled the name, though, and it seems you use biscuit pieces - I suppose you could just mix those into the mixture and use less/no oats or coconut.
