I have been eliminating meat from my diet since december, but recently gave up the last meat i was eating which was chicken (about a week ago). since then, i have had headaches all day. I would compare these to headaches i get when i dont drink coffee in the morning lol. Has anyone else experienced these? if so, did they eventually go away once your body got used to the transition? or am i doing something wrong.
You probably are already, thought it might be worth asking in case. Are you drinking enough water? I have found that drinking enough water (usually on 6 of the 8 glasses (which I buy bottled just because it's easier to keep up on my water consumption) that "they" say we need. My headaches are very few now, but I also didn't have the issue when I started the transition, because I guess, I was already drinking the water.
I don't have a clue if this would help you, hope so. It could be a sort of withdrawal, that would be my guess, but only a guess But yes, dehydration, which I did not even drink water the first, 40 years of my life (how did I survive?? Heaven only knows) but I must have gotten enough to keep me alive. But not without a lot of headaches, sick stomachs, etc. Also, I realized I wasn't hungry ALL the time, I needed water. Now I go for that before I go for food, just in case it really isn't hunger at all Denise
Giving up meat will not give you headaches--there may be things that you're doing instead that may cause them-- like not eating enough calories? Or eating something you're not used to that you be sensitive to, but didn't notice before?
How much has your diet changed since you've been vegetarian? Are you eating a variety of beans, lentils, nuts, whole grains, fruits and veggies ?
Giving up meat should not affect you in that way and cause you headaches, maybe you are not getting enough fluids and need to up your fluid intake. I would up your fluid intake and aim for around 6 - 8 glasses of water a day and see if you headaches subside, if they still continue I would consider seeing your doctor and explaining everything to them to see if there is something else causing your headaches. I hope you get an answer soon.
Oh yeah, the op hasn't made a second post since--3-13-2016
Maybe a good hearty casserole might have fixed them up.
Or a big @ss Italian sausage sub with peppers and onions and a bag of Wise onion rings
