Vegan or vegetarian? What's the difference?

Hi, I'm actively planning on going vegetarian, but not sure what's the difference between being vegetarian and being vegan. I have heard it would be easier to go vegan first and then vegetarian. Help!

Vegetarians can eat eggs and dairy if they choose and continue to use wool, leather, cosmetics tested on animals, etc.

Vegans use no animal products, as far as practical and possible.
