Nuts and Bolts

Category: Snacks
This recipe is suitable for a: vegetarian/vegan diet.
Ingredients:
-----------------------------------------------------
3 cups Cheerios-style cereal
3 cups Chex-style cereal
3 cups pretzels
1 cup mixed nuts
1 ½ cups Triscuits, slightly crush
¼ cups olive oil
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 ½ tbsp soy sauce
1 ½ tbsp water
¾ tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp nutritional yeast (option)
¾ tsp salt
Instructions:
-----------------------------------------------------
Mix the spices with the oil and whisk well. Add to dry ingredients and stir well to coat.
Spread on a baking sheet and bake in a 250 degree oven for 45 minutes, turning every 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and cool completely.
Store in an airtight container.
Substitutions:
You can use just lemon juice instead of the vinegar (but I prefer it with both).
For a cheesier taste, increase nutritional yeast to 1 tbsp.
Additional comments:
-----------------------------------------------------
A great vegan Chex cereal is Nature's Path Heritage Bites. They are high in fibre and protein. A great vegetarian Cheerios cereal is Nature's Path Heritage O's (not vegan only due to honey, so those avoiding dairy and eggs can still choose these).
