Toasted Chili Pecans

This recipe is suitable for a: vegetarian/vegan diet.

Ingredients:

2 TB Earth Balance ( or other vegan margarine)

1-2 TB Bragg's

1 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp red pepper (more or less, depending on how spicy you want them)

2 cups pecan halves

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350. In a saucepan, melt margarine, stir in Bragg's and spices. Mix well. Spread nuts on a cookie sheet, and toss with spice & margarine mixture until nuts are evenly coated. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until nicely toasted, stirring occaisionally. Spread nuts on foil to cool, then store in an airtight container.

For Smoky Chili-Toasted Almonds, substitute almonds for pecans, and add about 1/4 tsp liquid smoke to the liquid ingredients.
