Vegan Hash Brown Quiche

This recipe is particularly special for me because A) It's gluten free and that means my husband can have it, and B)It tasted "egglike" enough to impress him. The hash brown crust is really decadent and the quiche firmed up spectacularly. I'm really proud of myself for this one, and thought you guys might enjoy the recipe too!

If you've been vegan for a long time and don't like eggy flavors, you can just replace the kala namak with regular salt to omit the eggy-ness. It'll still taste just as good.

That Indian black salt seems to be the secret to making things taste like eggs. Amazing, isn't it? My wife puts it on avocado, and the taste/texture is almost identical to a hard boiled egg yolk.

This sounds super delicious! Thanks so much for sharing the link! I just found a similar recipe on Pinterest the the other day, which I wanna try soon. It's called vegetarian breakfast casserole but it's actually vegan as it uses silken tofu with kala namak instead of eggs and vegan cheese. It's made with hash browns and tempeh bacon. :-) I've just tried kala namak once in a vegan cafe but I absolutely loved it. Where did you get yours from? Did you order it from amazon or did you actually find it at a store?
