Has anyone ever done the master cleanse? How long did you do it for? And what were your results?

*I hope this isn't already somewhere, I couldn't find any posts about it.

I'm thinking of trying it.. but I don't want to drink the salt water flush..

I was going to, but after researching a lot it seems there's no point and it hurts more then it helps.

Don't bother with that cleanse and detox nonsense.

From the VeganRD
Quote:
There is no diet or regimen that will detoxify your body. You can eat all the raw foods and juices you want and your body will still produce toxins (because that’s the nature of normal metabolism) and will still do its usual work to neutralize or eliminate those toxins.

Eating a healthful diet that is rich in whole plant foods will certainly go a long way toward supporting those systems and promoting health. But that’s different from expecting that a week or two of some special diet will actually cleanse your body of harmful substances.

I like these replies because I've always been too chicken to do a cleanse, and it looks like I was right all along.

Im not sure about AlixJ18, but i would answer that it means there are few, if any, proven benefits to cleansing and the Master Cleanse in particular, and that this lack is out weight by documented cases of harm from cleanses

I have done some cleansing before, and i felt really great after.

Your body is full of crap from years of eating food full of pesticides antibiotics etc, even tap water is full of stuff like contraception products.

A good cleanse will clean it, but obviously if the cleanse contrains chemical crap, there is something wrong, and if you continue to take things like cola or crisps with artificial flavors the improvment wont last long.

Choose an organic cleanse, and take care of your body afterwards. In the best case the effects can last like 6 to 8 monthes for me and my friends but obviously not forever.

It s worth doing it at least one time seriously and try it by yourself, it s the best way to have you own opinion.

Except that it doesn't have any basis in science, medic, or any other ways, shapes or fields that require you to back up a theory with evidence, proof and real-time studies.

I can't really go more than a day or 2 without solid food bc of blood sugar issues, ive done the master cleanse halfway a few times, it works for me and no saltwater flushes necessary bc i still eat fibrous foods.

it's modified but i still see and feel results after a few days. i drink the spicy lemonade during the day and eat a light meal in the afternoon or evening, something like a salad or freshly made veggie soup. after about 3 days of this i can see a difference in my skin and definitely in digestion. this make that little pouch that forms on the lower tummy go right away (for me at least...).

i consider it more of a digestive cleanse than anything else, it probably helps my skin bc i am drinking so much during the day and lemon water is a natural diuretic so that alone is going to encourage elimination.

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
There is no scientific evidence that the diet removes any toxins, or that it achieves anything beyond temporary weight loss. Though unlikely to be harmful over the short term it can be harmful over the long term. Short term side effects include fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and dehydration, while long term harm includes loss of muscle mass.[3] [...] Nutritionist Jane Clark points to a lack of essential nutrients in this program, citing a deficiency of protein, vitamins, and minerals. As a result of these deficiencies, including far fewer calories than the recommended amount for health and optimum functioning, individuals on the diet may experience headaches and a variety of other symptoms in the short term and the diet is potentially harmful over the long term.[4] The program has been described as an extreme fad or crash diet, and any weight lost during the fast can be expected to be regained once the diet is stopped. Dietician Keri Glassman has said those following the diet are "guaranteed" to gain weight after stopping.[5]

On a related note, two of my aunts went on a "intestine cleanse" (dunno the proper English term...?) as part of a yoga course we attended. I thought it sounded a bit too far out, so I opted out. The cleanse consisted of drinking insane amounts of salt water in a short amount of time while doing light yoga to accelerate the process which would inevitably end in a run for the bathroom. Afterwards they had to eat only steamed veggies for days. My aunts reported back the next week they had never felt as horrible and low in energy.

I no longer post here after the disagreements and exodus related to the sale of VB back in 2012. (See my profile page.)
