Found an article about Vegetarian and Vegan Summer Camps for kids. It's a couple years old but some of the info is still good: http://vegnews.com/articles/page.do...=6&pageId=2078

The options they suggest are:
http://www.vegancamp.org/
http://www.yeacamp.org/
http://www.cgcvt.org/

Also, from personal experience I know that most summer camps can handle some dietary restrictions. I went to YMCA family summer camp every year as a kid and we had no problem getting vegetarian meals. Also, I'm looking into a family camp designed for transracial adoptive families and so I asked about vegan meals and they said it's unlikely to be a problem and that I should bring a few snacks just in case.

Anyone else know of good options for veg kids?

When you were going through the adoption process, were you open with the agencies about being veg*n?  I want to be transparent for potential birth mothers and kids from the counties that are already veg, but I have heard horror stories about agencies still being closed minded about plant based diets.  I am hoping that people are finally moving past these closed-minded views.  Any advice you have would be appreciated.  Have a beautiful day.

Yes, we were completely open about being vegan. And yes, there are horror stories. And yes, I do feel like we experienced some discrimination. But it didn't stop us. We successfully adopted.

I wrote up some info about adopting as a veg*n here: http://www.vegansoapbox.com/the-adoption-option/

Feel free to PM me with more questions.

Thanks for those links.  :)

BTW - We are a transracial adoptive family.  I wasn't veg*n during our adoptions, but our agency didn't ask about our dietary habits/beliefs/etc. that I can remember.  I had never even thought about the fact that agencies may have issues with that.  Hmmm - not surprising, though, I guess.
