Maybe this should be in the frugal forum...

flush with my pay from doing a week's painting and decorating for a neighbour, I called in to a local garden centre/nursery which has recently changed owners. The main plants were still pretty expensive, but I found a reduced to clear section where plants were £1 each. Mainly because they'd been chewed by rabbits or grown a bit lopsided. The woman serving said she had a load more in poly tunnels out the back. So I bought about 130 trees and shrubs. Some were price labelled at £20!

We'll be digging holes in our stony hard soil for weeks but won't it all be lovely in ten or fifteen years time!

We have a very big garden, too big to measure. Most of it is sloping as we are on a hillside. One bit that we're just starting to tackle is a very steep bank, you have to climb up it by hanging on to grass. It's got over run by huge brambles and we spent a day hacking some of them back. Now it's raining so I get a rest and the trees get some water.
