Someone gave me an entire angel food cake, and there's no way even if I eat it in unhealthfully large portions that I can finish it before the moldy gremlins try to get at it. I just want to make sure I'm not dooming it by freezing it.

Q: How many poets does it take to change a light bulb? A: 1001...one to change the bulb, 1000 to say it's already been done.

I would think it would pick up off-flavors in the freezer or maybe attract moisture, but I don't know for sure. I've never had the problem of having to freeze angel food cake.

Share it with friends and neighbours. That's the best bit about whole cakes, the sharing. This sort of cake does not freeze that well, no.

Love the post? Why not buy the T-shirt!

My grandma used to store angel food cake in the freezer. She would serve if frozen, drizzled with chocolate syrup. It was actually really good.

so long as it's wrapped tightly, angel food cake freezes very well, with very little change in texture.

No. But I'm not vegan. If you want a vegan angel food cake recipe, I'm sure they exist.

Yea it freezes well, I cut mine into smaller portions and put it in those big ziplock bags so it wouldn't pick up weird flavors.

same as already said....wrap really well first, but it does freeze....If your freezer has smells, put some baking powder in a bowl in it, and it'll absorb the odors

It's frozen quite well for me, and in just the bag with twist-tie it came in. It's yummy, so yummy, with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

Hehe glad it worked out. I haven't gotten any lately just because of the large sizes. Now that I know that I have some dehydrated strawberries I want to experiment with to see if I can make a decent strawberry topping

Skylark, we were just wondering, because we wanted to come over and eat the cake for you. You see, if we *know* about a vegan angelfood cake someone has, it doesn't freeze well and must be eaten quickly by guests.

Ah, thank you!   This is what I was wanting to hear. I am making Angel food cake to incorporate into a trifle for Christmas but will be far too busy on the day or day before to bake,so want to do it today and freeze it.

Yes, I have frozen them with no problem. I wrapped it well and put in the back of the freezer so it wouldn't try to defrost/refreeze. smiley.gif Good luck with your trifle!
