I want to make almond cookies from Veganomicon, but the recipe calls for Brown rice syrup and I don't have access to it right now. Can I just substitute agave or sugar or would it mess with the cookies? Thanks!

Honey works great!

OK, OK, you can use maple syrup, regular old Karo corn syrup (which is not the same as HFCS), or agave (which is expensive and very hard to find here so I never use it). Suger will change the texture and they may not turn out...

YAY! I'm so glad I got a response I was going to make the cookies yesterday, but didn't get a reply. I may go to the HFS tomorrow to get some BRS. I just got home from work and my Mom made about 5 dozen cookies, I'm in no rush now

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll write that down just in case I can't find it or for future references I may use honey only because we have a GIANT container that my Mom bought that is going to be tossed anyway.
