When I first went vegan, I remember eating these delicious, saucy buffalo wings. I can't remember the company they were made by. All the other ones I keep buying aren't saucy, they are quite the opposite. Dry and breaded. If anyone has seen saucy vegan wings, let me know.
Ugh, I was afraid of that. I thought for sure they were Gardenburger brand but I couldn't find them on the site and they stopped carrying them at Kroger where I used to buy them. Who would get rid of such a delicious thing!?!
Health is Wealth makes nuggets and patties (kept in the frozen section of stores that carry it) as well as a formed chick'n that is in the refrigerated section. The formed one would be great sliced, breaded and deep fried then drenched in the sauce.
Boca makes a vegan chicken patty that if fried and then drenched in the sauce would be good.
Have you tried making your own chicken-style seitan? Check out Bryanna Clark Grogan's webpage for (my favorite) seitan recipes. Once you learn to make your own fake-meat, you can bread it, fry it, make it into whatever you like, including easy wings.
Sauteed tempeh basted in hot sauce is a pretty decent substitute too. V'con has a recipe for Hot Sauce Glazed Tempeh I'd recommend.
I've made them in the past using the basic seitan recipe from Bryanna Clark Grogan's Authentic Chinese Cuisine. I made it with chicken flavored broth powder (Bryanna has a recipe you can find online) and otherwise followed the instructions. You can bake them or fry them.
For the sauce I will second (third? fourth?) the hotsauce + earth balance recommendation. I use Frank's hot sauce but any vinegar based sauce will work, use what you have or like. 50/50 is the classic ratio but some people prefer less hot sauce.
As a side note, despite what vegetarian convenience food companies would have you believe, buffalo wings are not breaded.

That is why I was so upset they stopped carrying this brand. All of the vegan wings appear to have a bread crumb mixture on the outside of them. The wings they stopped producing were just saucy.
I actually make seitan all the time using a method on about.com I believe it is. I usually just use it to make "meat" balls or "chicken" for stir fries. I don't know why I didn't use my brain and decide to make it into strips and cover it in this sauce.
