I bought a small pack of sliced Baby Bella Mushrooms (portabello) and only used a few from the pack. So, I sealed them back up and put them in the fridge. My question - how long before they go bad?? Should I freeze them instead??

I bought them 3 days ago and they seem to be ok. However, I'm hoping they will store well for another 2 weeks, but I know this may be wishful thinking. :P

IMO, mushrooms don't last more than 5 days.

i've never tried freezing (except already cooked stuff that is in a dish).

I've kept mushrooms for about a week and they've been fine. The outside of the caps get discolored a bit but they've always been fine to eat. 2 weeks may be pushing it though. I've never tried freezing them but I've bought them that way and they were good.

About a week is right. Also, you should be storing them in a paper bag, they will last longer and not sweat and discolor and sometimes you can stretch them a bit farther.

oh - oops! they're still in the container with a plastic cover. Ah well.

I'll just have to buy more next week.

Thanks everyone.

I recently had a pack of medium-largish portobello mushrooms, which I kept for just over a week and they were fine. I wouldn't have liked to keep them much longer though.
