ETA: I've never eaten chicken liver pate either, so I guess if it doesn't taste like it's supposed to, I sure won't know the difference.
I made a fantastic mushroom walnut pate from The Vegan Table by Colleen Patrick Goudreau. It wasn't raw though. I am going to make it again but fix the spices up a bit becuase I'm not overly fond of sage. But if you want the recipe you can PM me!
Tartex is an awesome pate substitute. Not a straight liver substitute to make pate, though, it is more a ready made pate, and comes in many flavours. If you do not have it at your local store, which is likely, it seems hard to find, you can mail order it quite easily. http://www.tartex.com/en/
