its been almost a month since i've stopped eating meat and it hasn't necessarily been easy..i don't plan on ever eating meat again but i do admit that i get serious cravings..

burgers have always been one of my favourite comfort foods

so far i've tried a few brands of veggie burgers: Lick's beef and Yves

for a meat replacement they've done a very good job creating these burgers but they just don't taste like meat to me and that is what i want, a veggie burger that actually tastes like a cow burger

i know there are more brands out there..Morningstar i know is one i haven't yet tried..but i have a feeling it tastes pretty similar to licks or yves

so i want to know if there are any options on what i can look for..I basically want a veggie burger that tastes like a hamburger

thanks

I've heard that the boca burger tastes very similar to a real burger.

Even though I don't even remember what a "real" burger tastes like....I think the Boca ones are close.

I always thought the Boca Flame Grilled burgers taste like beef. You might like Amy's also. They are a lot thicker than other brands.

Morningstar Farms Grillers tasted so real, I couldn't eat them.

I love the Amy's ones - similar texture to a normal burger. My favourite meal ever is one of their patties with sliced tomatoes, pickles, onions, mustard and ketchup - tastes just like a cheeseburger cept 100% better.

I reckon all veggie burgers, even the not so good ones, taste better than meat burgers. I was a big meat eater too, but I still thought this even as an omni.

I think that Yves are very good....although I don't really remember what a "real" hamburger tastes like, my boyfriend (who is still an omni) really likes them too

^^^ That.

While they aren't exact, the flavor is REALLY good. I just made vegetarian Western Bac'n Cheeseburgers for dinner using MF Grilers, very close to the original Carl's Jr/Hardees burger. I used to thaw one in the microwave, then cook my patty until it was super crispy and eat it cut up with ketchup Still do it occasionally, I've never been a huge fan of buns.

MS Grillers aren't vegan tho, are they? (I don't recall, and I've only recently made the "full vegan" switch) I know the OP didn't specify vegan, I'm just curious myself...

They have Vegan Grillers, but they're closer in taste and texture to the Boca Original. I honestly don't care for them because they stick to the pan when cooking and they don't crisp up like the originals do. Flavor wise, they're good though and work on buns

I vote for Boca (vegan-wise, anyway.) As a tip, add on plenty of toppings: condiments, lettuce, avocado, cheez, tempeh bacon, etc. It helps you get into the delicious flavors of the burger rather than focusing on the fact that it does not taste exactly like meat.

I've had various Morningstar burgers and Boca burgers as well. I've liked most, but think the Boca burgers taste the best. Even my very omni fiance loves them. Put a few with some freshly sliced veggies on the grill and... dangit, I just made myself hungry again. lol

I agree, the Boca Vegan "Burgers" and the Morningstar Grillers are the closest to meat that I have tasted.

agree boca burgers basted with some bbq sauce are the best ever topped with avocado slices and cheese and grilled onions.

I don't think so, but you can load up the fat on your sandwich to make it comparable. Like add grilled onions in oil, vegan mayo, ketchup, mustard, vegan or "veggie" cheese.

I highly recommend lightlife patties. I had one shortly after making the switch and it was creepily realistic, and it's main ingredient was just molasses!! Try it if you can find it, you won't be disappointed. It's better then Amy's, Morning Star or Boca!
