Becoming a vegetarian started out as an experiment during my sophomore year of high school. I would have never thought that I would be here, ending my freshman year of college, with no pork on my fork, and surprisingly, no milk in my cup (Sorry, that didn't rhyme. I was trying to think of something catchy and cool).
I prayed to the Most High to help me become a healthier person, and s/he answered! As a long-time lover of dairy products, I just couldn't consume it anymore. I packed up my mini-fridge and sent all of the eggs, milk, and cheese home.
I am on this site to hopefully find some fellow vegans! I am very new to veganism and I am also very open to some tips on staying that way! Thanks in advance!

Welcome! I'm not too far away from you in North Carolina, and I'm also a new vegan. I went vegetarian when I was ending my freshman year of college, which was now 7 years ago. (Yikes, I feel old!). Anyway, welcome!
Welcome! I'm in RVA too! I'm very active with RAL and Richmond Friends of Animals. There are lots of vegans here in central VA. And, of course, the world's BEST vegetarian festival is held here every year! This year it will on June 20 in Bryan Park.

The vegetarian festival is HUGE! Lots of great food vendors, rescue/animal rights groups, and great speakers. Definitely save the date. There's also a lot of vegan friendly restaurants in the area. We're lucky! Pm me if I can help in any way.
