I have been a vegan for two months now. I feel great about myself for doing it but I have not experienced the health effects. I read many blogs that said people cleared up their rosacea, had more energy, and lost weight after the first two weeks. I cook most of my meals and eat very healthy. Has anyone else not seen these effects so soon?
Since I've always been pretty healthy, I really didn't notice much difference when I went vegan 7 years ago. I do think it's probably easier to maintain your weight on a vegan diet. And of course, it's easier on the conscience!
Well I started losing 2 lbs a week for the first 8 weeks when I first made the switch. Of course, I was quite overweight at the time and that extra weight hadnt been on me for very long. A year later, I do find it easier to maintain my weight; it's hard to overeat when I'm filling up on whole foods, mostly veggies and fruit. Overall I feel a million times better than I did last year, but its hard to say whether it is the veganism or all the other positive changes in my life. ^.^ Anyway, congrats on your 2 months!
I am not overweight either and found that it is easier to maintain this weight, I would have liked to drop a few pounds I thought it would come off being vegan but I see myself eating so much better (even though I ate well before), I just don't enjoy eating out as much as I used to. I do love the feeling I have being vegan, it is not just the animals it is the whole philosophy of doing better for yourself at the same time as the moral issues. It is very funny because people say all the time "why did you do it", and "do you feel better". The answer is because in this day and age why wouldn't you at least try to the best thing for your body and see if all the research on animal and dairy effects you, and as I said in the beginning I don't feel better physically yet (I was in good condition, exercising daily, etc.) but I really do mentally.
