Thawing frozen veggies - VeggieBoards

Is there a trick to this? I usually steam my frozen veggies, but I'd prefer to eat them raw. How long do you think I'd have to thaw them for, and on type of partition would I place them on?

Hmmmm...never thought about eating them thawed and not steamed. Sorry!

Frozen vegetables are actually not usually "raw" as they have been heated past the point of "raw" prior to packaging.

As far as I know, frozen veggies are very nutrient rich. In some cases even better than fresh because when you buy fresh it can take days by the time they reach the grocer's and then your table. When veggies are frozen they are usually frozen shortly after they've been picked. At least, this is what I have heard.

That's pretty interesting... However, I heard the opposite... as the frozen food looses some nutrients.

hi,federico

nutrients from vegetables are temperature dependent ,as several vit get destroyed with incresing temperature such as vit c vit b.

freezing really restore the nutrient .....so don;t worry about nutrients

Not if they are cooked prior to freezing though because cooking causes a significant amount of nutrient loss.
