Green leafy veggies are okay & healthy for you to eat, even when on blood thinners. The problems arises when you ALTER THE AMOUNT of green leafy veggies you eat. If you increase or decrease the amount, it will affect how your blood clotting mechanism, and you will need to have your clotting prevention (aka blood thinner) medication dose altered. The dietitians, pharmacists and I all teach our patients to be consistent with their intake of Vitamin K foods, and if they change their intake, they need to notify their doctor.
