Last night I met with the financial aid person at the culinary school I hope to attend. The tuition is VERY expensive, and even after financial aid, I'll be left with a balance of $15,000 to pay. I have to make arrangements to pay the balance before I can enroll. Arrgh!!

They presented me with a few options which I need to investigate. But if anybody has any suggestions of scholarships, grants, etc., I would be glad to hear about them! Also prayers/positive thoughts/encouragement are always welcome.

Can you apply for a Stafford loan?

That's similar to the all-in-one form I filled out in GA to determine what loans or grants I qualified for.

Yeah, that's the financial aid that I will get. Unfortunately, that doesn't cover all the tuition, supplies, and fees. Who knew culinary school would be so expensive?

No, mikie. Read the thread on "a little dilema". Apparently the residents of VB make her want to cook meat.

Love the post? Why not buy the T-shirt!

I don't think I want to read that thread.

Where I grew up there were loads of little scholarships to be found. The American Legion was always good for a little check (like $250 or $500) if a person wrote them a nice letter explaining why they were raising funds. Of course, it helps if you're related to a member (I am. Haha. )

Also, my town of 300 people had a group called "Westmore's Ladies Aid" and I'd get a check from them for $500 at the start of every school year.

It might be worth your time contacting a local high school's financial aid office and asking them if there are any local scholarships for returning students. Also, if you've gone to college in the past, don't hesitate to contact your previous school's financial aid office. They usually like to help previous students succeed!

God I'm an idiot! If I delete my post, will you guys delete yours so I look less stupid? No... I'll leave it, to have my stupidity enshrined forever. I haven't slept for about 20 hours, I've had insomnia and I'm trying to stay awake right through to my proper bed time. VB was an attempt to keep myself awake.

I think I'll go play game before I make an even bigger fool of myself.

PS Sorry, Gracie.

Don't know if this is of any use. Found it a while ago. Fill in your details and it gives you long lists of what you may be entitled to.

No, but I'm going into their Pastry, Baking, and Confectionary Arts program. I hope to have a little bakery someday. Or a fancy candy shop. No, a bakery. Maybe a bakery that sells candy?

Thanks, vheogl & mikie. Those look like some helpful resources. I'll definitely check them out.
