in a desperate bid to raise funds to help my struggling (due to unforeseen circumstances regarding my husband's hours at work) family this summer, i have decided to offer people an incentive to donate generously to my recipe website, www.veganmania.com

if you've never visited it before, i hope you will now, as i have put many hours of work into developing the recipes and maintaining the site over the last 5+ years and i'm pretty durn proud of it.

here's the thing i'm hoping will encourage everyone to click around the site, find recipes they love, and send me a few bucks!

if you donate $8.00, i will send you 6 homemade (by me, in my all-vegan kitchen) cookies.

if you donate $14.00, i will send you 12 cookies.

if you donate $10.00, i will send you 6 (large) bars

if you donate $20.00, i will send you 12 (large) bars

if you donate $12.00, i will send you 6 (large) pieces of baklava, tarts, or muffins

if you donate $24.00, i will send you 12 (large) pieces of baklava, tarts or muffins

here is a list of things that i am currently willing to BAKE and SHIP to you, fresh and tasty.

chocolate chip cookies

peanut butter cookies*

peanut butter* chocolate chip cookies

peanut butter* and raisin boulders

lemon cashew shortbread bars

jam-filled** vanilla thumbprint cookies

cinnamon and ginger snickerdoodles

sandies (aka mexican wedding cookies, aka russian tea cakes)

baklava

chocolate pecan tarts

raspberry coconut shortbread bars

cocoa and coconut macaroons

peppy power cookies (made with oatmeal, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds)

corny banana oat muffins

strawberry cupcakes with vanilla frosting

chocolate cupcakes with chocolate or peanut butter frosting

spice cupcakes with lemon frosting

*select any other nut or seed butter for an extra $1 per six cookies

**choose your favourite flavour of jam

all items are 100% vegan; no dairy, no eggs, no lard, no gelatin, no weird preservatives you can't pronounce the name of. they will be made with Earth Balance Non-Hydrogenated (and therefore no trans-fatty acids) Vegan Buttery Spread and/or canola oil and refined sugar (the manufacturer assures me they do not use bone char in the bleaching process) or 100% pure maple syrup, and I only ever use Tropical Source Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips.

a list of ingredients for each item is available upon request!

i am happy to mix-n-match cookies when sending more than one dozen.

please note: i am willing to take special orders and requests for goodies that you desire that are not listed above, but remember that it's warm weather and some things don't stand up to the heat they will be exposed to during shipping. just email and we'll discuss!

also, i am more than willing to send these as gifts to anyone of your choosing, and if you throw in $2.00 more i'll giftwrap and include a little card with the note of your choice.

all of these items will be frozen prior to shipping (to extend freshness; though of course they will have defrosted by the time they arrive at your door), and will be well-packed. the very nature of high-sugar baked goods guarantees they will remain tasty and fresh for at least two weeks after being made.

shipping is NOT included in the donation, so you will have to add it to your donation when you send the money via paypal. here's a list of shipping costs as i know them to be at this point (this could change, but i'll let you know before your donation is "accepted"...)

6 items = $5.00 per box

12 - 24 items = $8.50 per box

over 24 items = $12.00 per box

shipping is airmail which should bring the goodies to your door within 5 - 10 business days. if you want speedier service, it will cost you more, as the rates get exponentially higher. also, i am an environmentally-friendly shipper, packing your goodies in recycleable newspaper and REAL popcorn (not styrofoam), so you can chuck it into your compost pile and give back to the earth.

so here's what you can do. write me an email at veganmaniasite@yahoo.ca (CA for canada) and let me know if you're interested in donating, how much you want to donate, and what flavours of goodies you'd like. i will give you my paypal info at that point, and when the donation is recieved, i'll bake your order and ship it within 48 hours.

if you are waffling, and not sure if the treats are worth the donation you're sending, i URGE you to contact my celebrity endorser, steve burns (his website is www.steveswebpage.com and his email address is steve@steveswebpage.com ). he has been the recipient of many, many of my baked goods in the past (as gifts) and raves about them to anyone who asks. tell him kreeli sent you and he'll reassure your wonderings.

i really hope there's some interest here for this and i want to offer something to everyone who wants to help me out while we get through this rough patch. my husband's hours at work were cut recently and there's no reprieve in sight for us at least until september. this throws such a wrench in the works because for months now i've been planning to go on a road trip, with no hubby and no kids and instead some of my very dear friends, in july, and if i can't raise the money somehow, i won't get my VERY MUCHLY NEEDED break from the life of a bedraggled vegan housewife.

thank you so much for reading through this message, and if you're interested, just drop me a line at the address above.

i love you guys!

yes! prices quoted are in US dollars. shipping to Canada will be cheaper and internationally, more expensive. i just figured most people here were American.

thank you for the well-wishes, everyone. i'm hoping this helps us out a bit. if not for the whole summer than maybe just until i get my road trip. heh.

I still wander occasionally over there and had no idea that you were the site owner. Mania was recommended to me long ago from some folks on the (long defunct) Crazy Vegetarian site.

Kreeli, I've seen people selling vegan baked goodies on ebay, maybe you can try that too? You can just post the link of you items here or even as part of signature. That way, you don't have to explain to everybody everytime and people who skip this thread may also get to know your GREAT VEGAN TREATS just by coming across any of your post.

I love you!!!!

Freemouse has a really cool idea!

Kreeli, had I not just moved ($$$) I'd be sending away for a dozen. I'm going to have to check my money balance and get back to you!

Kreeli has been a well-respected and valuable member of this community since before it began, so I wouldn't (and won't!) hesitate to order from her.

That selection is just mind-boggling though.

Just curious, are there any special precautions or anything you have to do when sending food items over the border?

ETA: Oh, and which flavor of cookies will be soft & chewy?

this is part of the reason i'm doing this a "bonus for donating" to veganmania. if i wanted to open up a "legit" vegan cookie online biz, there would have to be all kinds of red tape to be fought through before i could send stuff over the border. as it stands now, since i'm baking these in my home kitchen, and sending them as gifts to all of you, i'm free of those hassles.

this may be like a "beta test" for me, though. if this works out really well, i will probably look into doing it "for real". it could take up to 6 months to get everything set up properly, so i thank you all very much for being willing to be my guinea pigs.

as for the soft and chewy cookies, ALL of them are. crunchy cookies are against my religion, unless they are ginger snaps.

Kreeli - I'm all over the idea of donation gifts. Sure, you lose the benefit of tax deduction of your appliances, but when it comes to food, sometimes it's easier to bend the rules

I'm not comfortable being involved in animal testing. To purchase my silence, forward me chocolate chip cookies.

Blackmail. How sweet it is.

haha, yes, i do know how to make vegan ginger snaps. would you like some?

cash is tricky. it gets ripped off out of envelopes by postal workers and other thieves if they can figure out what it is. it would be safer to send an international money order to me or wire the money via western union (though both have processing fees). i will also accept personal checks but my bank puts a hold on them for 10 days before the money gets deposited in my account, so it could be a long time before you get your goodies if you donate that way.

wow, that's a great idea, freemouse. i wonder, though, if there are any legal implications to "selling" foods on ebay? i'll have to check into it. thank you so much for the idea!

I'd be glad to put a link to your site at www.materials.addr.com, if you want me to, however I don't think you'll get more than 3 or so people per month clicking on it.

I will definitly order some cookies on Friday when I get some money. I trust your cooking abilities because I've made your enchiladas before and they are amazing! I'm sure your cookies are as well.
