Soy controversy: Healthy protein packed bean or the anti-nutrient devil?

What's with the controversy surrounding soy? Can I eat soy all the time? Do I need to limit my servings?

I read this web article although I am skeptical especially since the writer seems to think cholesterol is an essential nutrient. Seems like a total anti-soy page to me.

The American Nutrition Association's apparent position on soy foods is almost the opposite that of the American Cancer Society, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the American Heart Association, and other mainstream health organizations.

Look at the American Nutrition Association's consulting experts webpage: http://americannutritionassociation....ionaldirectory . None of these people are RDs (Registered Dietitians). Instead, the ANA's consultants include aromatherapists, chapter leaders of the Weston A. Price Foundation (a rabidly anti-vegan organization that promotes increased consumption of saturated fats), "biotherapeutic drainage" experts (whatever that means), reiki practitioners, naturopathic doctors, and other such "professionals".

Soy is healthy. Both males and females who consume soy foods have shown a reduction in cancers. Of course as for any foods, this means the lightly processed soy- soy milk, tofu, edaname, and esp. tempeh

I haven't seen a site demonizing soy that didn't have a hand in meat or dairy

There was a problem with interpreting some research that the American Cancer society has since corrected-- or maybe it was the Komen breast cancer group? Anyway, it had been listed as causing, but since corrected is now promoted as cancer preventive
